Last weekend we took a “spur of the moment” trip to Corpus Christi, a 265 mile jaunt to the south. It was nice to get away for a few days. We stayed at the Omni Marina Hotel on the bay. The change in scene did wonders for us: palm trees, tropical weather and ocean views.
For those of you who don’t live in TX, you might be interested in knowing some of the speed limits for our highways are up to 75 and 80 MPH. Obviously the time to travel long distances is cut considerably.
While in Corpus, we dined on seafood the two nights we were there. We visited the Museum of Science and History and an art museum where local artists had their works for sale. Of course, we took time out to have mint julips and watched the Kentucky Derby on TV. Always an exciing build up for a two minute race. Some day we’d like to see a Kentucky horse win for a change.
The weekend before last, we saw the movie “The Raven” with John Cusak. It was a little gory, but made for a pretty good mystery. It was dark in atmosphere much like Edgar Allen Poe would write about in his stories. Murders were committed according to Poe’s stories and he was brought in to help solve the crimes.
With next Sunday being Mothers Day, we’d like to wish all mothers out there a happy day.
