Hooray for April Showers

Finally, here we are in the middle of April and we’re receiving some much needed rain in Central TX. We just had new sod installed to replace the lawn we lost during last summer’s drought. This rain should help establish the lawn before we go back on water restricitons next month.

On Easter Sunday after breakfast and church, we visited our younger son Douglas and his family for a while in the afternoon. It was a nice warm day with only a slight sprinkle which amounted to nothing.

A couple of weeks ago we gave a lecture on our novel to the local Lions Club. It’s the first time we used a Power Point presentation with words and photos. It was well received. In February we lectured to another charity organization, Alliance League, but without any visual support.

We’ve seen a number of movies since our last Blog entry. Last nite we saw “Lockout” which was disappointing because we usually like scifi movies. The week before we saw “Wrath of the Titans”; not worth the money. Before that we saw “Mirror, Mirror” and it was totally lacking; no humor, story line was weak and the characters were boring. Now we come to the so-called blockbuster “Hunger Games.” Cash liked it and I didn’t think much of it. Kids killing kids is not an entertaining story line. We bought the book for one of our granddaughters before we saw the movie because everybody she knew had the book. Hope it doesn’t warp her young impressionable mind.

Lastly, our latest novel, an action/adventure story tentatively titled “The Iris Covenent” is now in the hands of our publisher; they started technical editing two weeks ago and should start on editing for content next month. This combined with layout and cover design along with final drafts will consume the next seven months or so. Release may come in the fall.

Now that we have an updated website, we plan on posting blogs more frequently. Stay with us for future postings.
